North Bank’s annual juried show brings the theme Black and White to its walls, the term being interpretable in any way the artists wishes. The gallery had a record number of submissions from all over the U.S. in a variety of mediums. Artists selected for the show are: Catherine Rozmarynowycz, Kurtis Hough, Maurice Fykes III, Al Flory, Liv Rainey-Smith, Char Fitzpatrick, Robert Biesel, Raymond J. Klein, Jeff Turner, Christine Ingalls, Fay Kahn, Anne John, Deborah Fay Morales, Li Tie, Marthe Aponte, Julian Nelson, Cynthia Heise, Robert Sumner, Randy Clark, Erin Wiersma, Sally Sellars, Lolita Jo Purviance, Debra Galaty David Galaty, Mike Kelley, & kathi rick. Juror for the show is Rita Robillard, currently a professor at Portland State University, whose most recent mixed-media series, “Luminous Frontier,” was shown in the exhibition “Place and Time” at Williamson Gallery, Scripps College, in Claremont, California. Skin Deep: What Is Beauty

Bound feet, flattened heads, tattoos, powdered wigs, obesity, emaciation… All have been considered the epitome of human beauty at some time or place. But what is beauty? This show features artists from across the country working in diverse media including sculpture, painting, collage, and more. Also featuring vibrant acrylic paintings that celebrate the lives of women by gallery artist Jamie Lutz Carroll.

Exhibiting the wildlife carving of a master of the craft, William Bishop. Take the opportunity during the weekend of Sept. 11 and 12. to see nationally recognized carvings during the Columbia Flyway Wildlife Show also at the Water Resources Education Center. 40 years.
Exhibiting along with Bishop’s carvings is the work of semi-abstract painter Judy Hoiness. Paintings from her four year series of the Columbia River Country reveal the diverse geography of the great Columbia River through the medium of semi-abstract acrylic on paper and canvas.
